The effects of different enzyme concentrations on substrate hydrolysis of alkaline phosphatase are summarized in Table 4. A clear linear relationship can be observed from Figure 5. As increasing concentrations of alkaline phosphatase are added to the reaction mixture, the velocity of substrate hydrolysis increases exponentially. According to the Michaelis theory, the reaction velocity would be expected to be proportional to enzyme concentration so long as the concentration of enzyme remains small compared with that of the substrate. The relationship seen in Figure 5 is in close agreement with that predicted by the Michaelis theory. Additionally, Eadie [1926]'s work highlighted the relationship between the level of activity of the enzyme (. the reaction velocity with high substrate concentration) and amount of substrate concentration required for the reaction to occur. Therefore, in order to further the understanding of alkaline phosphatase kinetics, the author suggests the introduction of measures investigating the level of activity of alkaline phosphatase. In summary, the enzymatic hydrolytic power increases progressively during the period of increasing enzyme concentration.

This module focuses on the development of basic  programming skills using Python 3 for use in Life Sciences applications. The intention  is to provide a basic understanding of programming. This will be achieved by a  comprehensive hands-on experience of the use of these languages. The course is intended to provide a hands -on introduction to programming in Python  3. The expectation is that the skills acquired will provide a basic competency that will  enable the development of Python scripts that may be embraced in problem solving  and data analysis beyond this module.

The 12 month certificate program begins in July of each year and combines both didactic and practical training. Located in a academic community, the Histotechnology School is a joint effort among UPMC's Department of Pathology, Magee-Womens Hospital, Children's Hospital, and Presbyterian-Shadyside Hospitals in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The education is conducted under the close supervision of experienced pathologists and histotechnologists at UPMC facilities. The school is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences. Graduates are eligible to take the HT, ASCP BOC.
